Defend yourself and prevent sex offense charges

Public urination may seem mild on the list of things that you could do wrong, but this charge can cause a major disruption in your life. Not only will you be charged and possibly convicted of this crime, causing it to be on your record, but you could also be accused of being a sex offender. You may have to be on a sex offender registry, and that could cause complications in your life.

The truth is that it's possible to be accused of sex offenses just by being nude in public. If you were urinating near a school, for instance, you could be charged because children were near by. If you were naked on a busy street while drunk, you could face charges for that, too.

Take for instance a case that resulted in a man being named as a sex offender in Florida. He was arrested for public urination in Massachusetts back in 1986, and that resulted in a sex offense. He had to register as a sex offender, and that forced him to move. Because of the status, he wasn't allowed to live within 2,500 feet of a park.

Another man, a Mexican immigrant, was deported after being caught urinating behind a garbage can in a back alley. His crime became more serious because he was within 100 yards of a school; that meant that Operation Predator could be used against him and force him to be sent back to his home country.

These situations may seem unusual, but they're good examples of why you need to defend yourself if you're caught urinating in public. Our website has more information on what to do when you're facing charges.
